First Congregational, United Church Of Christ of Monroe
STATEMENT OF POLICY ON HARRASSMENT
I. POLICY
We the members of the First Congregational, United Church
Of Christ of Monroe value and encourage relationships that promote
individual dignity, well being, self esteem and that enhance church harmony and unity. Interactions that are abusive or demeaning will not be tolerated.
Any harassment, including but not limited to age, race, religion, disability, sex or sexual orientation, or perceived differences of status are directly contrary to the policy of this church and will not be tolerated. We consider children to be especially in need of nurture and deplore any exploitation or abuse.
We affirm a policy of Christian love and understanding for all our members and guests. We encourage constructive and positive communication in all our relationships.
II. Handling of Allegations of Abusive or Demeaning Conduct
Complaints should be directed to the pastor or the moderator who will consult with the cabinet. Upon a complaint being made or upon church officials learning of an allegation, the cabinet shall appoint a fact-finding subcommittee, e.g. the pastoral relations committee, to investigate while keeping private all names. The cabinet shall make a good faith effort to resolve the issue within the Monroe church but as necessary shall seek the assistance of the Washington-North Idaho conference to which the church belongs.
